#4: Plenty of Media, a Bit of ZineMonth
Hello everyone! By now, the formula should be obvious. I do a little gushing about the media I’m enjoying at the moment, then I’ll chat Bracing for the Storm, and then any releases or personal news.
Media Round-up
On the video game front, I am certainly not immune to the Balatro hype! Its combination of card-game fun and roguelike shenanigans very much appeals to me. On that note, so so keen for Hades 2!
Over on the tabletop roleplaying side of things, I received my digital copy of Deathmatch Island and have been sending my usual TTRPG group many cryptic notes in preparation. It has such a strong design, and I’m very much enjoying the notes from ‘Production’. That and Exquisite Biome are my next games to run, I think! Although Caro has also since dropped the incredibly intriguing LAST TRAIN TO BREMEN… I’ve enjoyed reading The Indie RPG Club’s Stonetop Actual Play and have been listening to quite a lot of TTRPG podcasts, including: Dice Exploder, Lyrical Ludology and The Apocalypse Players. I’ve also recently acquired physical copies of Good Society & Dinocar. So much going on!
Bracing for the Storm: A Zine-In-Progress
If you’ve read the most recent update on Bracing for the Storm’s Kickstarter page, none of the below info will be new to you.
Progress is good on my most recent ZineMonth project, Bracing for the Storm. Layout, final drafting and playtesting have been proceeding well, hand-in-hand. To that end, I’ve been working on the Hunters’ Sheet (my first ever character sheet!). It’s still a work-in-progress, but here is a preview.
My intention is for each player to have their own copy, and to write all the hunters’ details there during character creation. The sheet can be marked up over the course of the game.
Releases and Other News
Not much else to say here, I’m afraid. Graffiti Speak is free now and forever! A play-by-post game designed for Discord, I enjoy what I’ve designed there but it’s a bit old now. Enjoy. Also, I’m looking forward to my annual event, Margaret River Readers and Writers Festival. The talks are always great, and Wadandi boodjar is incredibly beautiful. It was a major inspiration for Bracing for the Storm!
Alright, that’s all from me for now. Thank you for reading!
